First Aid Kits and Supplies
Hockey is by nature a risky sport and unfortunately accidents happen and injuries occur. Each captain and/or coach should have access to a first aid kit and there are others within the clubhouse.
Everyday supplies, including plasters, bandages and ice packs are kept in the main kit cupboard, please help yourself to these. If you need anything else, e.g. gloves, steristrips, or the stocks in the kit cupboard are running low please contact Clare Winter.
If the person goes to hospital then an accident report should be completed, these are kept behind the bar and in the first aid supplies box in the main kit cupboard. If this is an impact injury from ball stick or player then the EH monitoring form should be completed, found here.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
A club member has kindly donated funds to allow us to install a defibrillator and housing on the external clubhouse wall. It is located under the fire escape steps by the kit cupboard so it is close to the pitch and easily accessible.
Should anyone be in need of an AED, then call 999 and request an ambulance as usual. Explain where you are and that there is an AED located on the building. The ambulance operator will provide the code to unlock the housing. You then take the AED & the first aid pouch to the patient.
The pouch contains gloves to protect you and other first aiders, plus the equipment required to apply the AED pads to the skin, such as scissors and a razor.
The AED we have is simple to use and is the Heartsine 360p fully automated version. When turned on, it will give instructions on what to do and once the pads have been applied it will administer a shock to the patient if required.
If the patient is under 8 there are paediatric pads in the rear blue compartment.
