Senior Grand Masters Captain Trevor Wood and fellow SGM Arthur Creswell represented the East in the Area Over 75s Masters Tournament on Saturday 15th June in Sheffield. Despite losing a key player before the tournament had begun, they beat Midlands 2-0 in the opening match of the tournament. After a break they returned to the fray and were disappointed to be 0-1 down to the North following a penalty stroke but fought back and were rewarded with an equaliser to finish 1-1. This turned out to be the only point dropped all weekend by the eventual winners North, as they went on to beat every other Area during the weekend, scoring 7 goals and only conceding 1 more.
East lost another key player overnight and, despite valiant efforts by the remaining players, lost 0-3 to West in the first match on Sunday. They regrouped for the next match, against London, South Central and South East but were 0-2 down at half time. Arthur Creswell was moved from defence to attack and this helped East to score and reduce the deficit to 1-2. Shortly after, a lobbed ball hit another key player on the head and he had to retire. Despite constant pressing, East were unable to score again before the klaxon went for full time.
