Young Leaders & Young Umpires

Each year we run the England Hockey Board’s Leadership Award over several days. We run this award in association with the Dr Challoners School Sports Partnership and some of the sessions are based at the school. The award consists of four modules, Coaching, Leadership, Managing and the Foundation Umpire Award. This award is open to members who are 13yrs+.

Young leaders and young umpires are encouraged to come and help with the younger groups’ training sessions on a Sunday morning to help develop the skills they have learnt from doing the Leadership Award.

Young leaders are given the chance to run mini teams at fixtures and at tournaments, help manage and coach teams, umpire at training and at fixtures and tournaments and be a role model to our very young players.
